Our 24 hour laboratory has a Double Modular P Biochemistry Analyser
that has to go down for maintenance for one hour a day. No results are
available during this time. Staff have elected to do this maintenance
at 8.00am. Many of our clinicians have complained that this is an
inconvenient time. I would be keen to hear what times other labs are
perfoming routine maintnence on their analysers, especially those with
the Roche Modular P.

We tried to do our maintenance at 3 am, but it never worked out. We have 2
Olympus AU400s and they are configured so that all STATs can be done on
either one. They do the PMs in the morning, but only one at a time. We are
never down so that we can't do the work.

Do you have a slow time in the afternoon? That might be an ideal time.

Thanks John, Useful about the 3am as I was thinking of going there.
I have got a hold of the graph showing when chem path specimens are
received and registered in our lab. There is a slow time at 1100hrs
and also around 15hrs,though this may coincide with morning and
afternoon tea times, before tapering off around 1730hrs. Our TATs are
not very good compared with the other 32 labs in our organisation
using different configuaration and backup. Heaviest workload is
around 08.30am so not a good time to bring the analyser down. I would
like to split the double P (Conjoint Twins joined at the rack handling
conveyor) into two single model P's, similar to your system with the
Olympus AU400's, but am told this is not viable. I am loath to suggest
an Integra 400 or 700 as it introduces a whole new range of reagents
and technology etc. I really appreciate the feedback.
