Default Oxycodone Serum Blood level too low : need advice

Hi everyone,

I am a chronic pain patient who was recently given two tests to insure
that I am taking my prescribed oxycodone as directed. One was a urine
drug screen, and the other a blood serum level of some sort. I am
taking up to 100mg total oxycodone per day, with a typical single dose
being 3-5 5mg pills every 4 hours on a prn basis, and a typical daily
dose being 75-100mg.

Unfortunately, both tests produced results which my doctor told me were
dramatically less than they should be for someone taking 100mg
oxycodone per day. They were 368 ng/ml for the urine drug screen and 18
ng/ml for the blood serum test, taken at least 3 weeks apart.

I am wondering what the levels should be for for someone taking 100mg
oxycodone per day, and also whether or not these tests are considered
reliable and accurate for the task they are being used for here.

I should also not that these tests were done at the same time I get my
regular fasting blood work done for diabetes, and it is my habit when I
am doing the fast that I usually don't take my oxycodone at all, as I
can't tolerate it on an empty stomach. So that there may have been a
gap of at least 12-18 hours from the time I took my last 15-25mg dose
of oxycodone and the time I took the urine drug screen or the blood
serum test. Could this result in such a dramatic lowering of my
oxycodone levels? Also, I drink a lot of water, and would that tend to
dilute the urinalysis results?

Any response or directions to a website that explains all this would be
greatly appreciated.

I'm not a pro, nor a frequent poster on this board, but I would say, for the
UA, yes, your issue has got to be with the fact that you haven't had a dose
in ~12hrs prior to the sample. Now, as far as the blood test goes, your
issue probably lies in your abstinence of Oxyc. for several hours, as you
said you must fast for your diabetes blood test. I don't have the numbers
for the normal baseline figures, though. That'd prolly lead you to how far
off (or diluted) your samples are.
