I am taking 25 mg a night, for about 6 weeks. That's the lowest dose you
can take and you'll be just fine. It's probably for a short term since
it's for PMDD. Seroquel is actually an antipsychotic (which scares
everyone so they just call it something to help you to sleep; not to be
cynical, but my pdoc has prescribed two things to "help me sleep" an
antianxiety drug known as Klonopin and Seroquel.) So in reality, it is a
mood stabilizer, it's just a specific kind of mood stabilizer, generally
one to help you slow down and think clearly (used to work for a
psychiatric med journal).

Another thing Seroquel does, for me anyway, is stops the 'racing
thoughts.' That's worth a million bucks. (It also completely stopped my
irritable bowel syndrome).

I put on 20lbs. with Seroquel. I'd say it's second in line to Zyprexa for
weight gain. Abilify and Geodon are supposed to be weight neutral.

i havent gained any weight on weroquel rob..in fact i have lost
several lbs! it was the wellbutarin and the zyprexa that made me fat.
seroquels not a bad med.

Yep, that's why meds are so YMMV! I gained weight on both Zyprexa and
Seroquel but have lost all that I gained while taking Wellbutrin. I think
I've heard of maybe two or three people (out of 30, maybe) who didn't gain
weight on S and Z.
