Default vitamins and thyroid meds (thyroid)

I am totally shocked how many people still do not know not to take their
daily multi-vitamin with their thyroid meds in the morning!Calcium, iron and
soy products need to be 4 hours apart from your thyroid meds. This includes
foods containing these products, such as orange juice, yogurt, most
cereals.milk etc.almost anything! The thyroid meds apparently bind with
certain foods and flush out of your system, leaving you with very little if
any supplementation.I have started taking my meds at bedtime.I do not eat
anything while I am asleep! Try it. See if you do not feel better.

Default vitamins and thyroid meds (thyroid calcium down stomach)

I'd just like to add that it's the T4 that can bind with iron and
calcium and not be absorbed David. T3 doesn't so much, in fact taking
T3 with food can delay the absorbtion and 'spread' the dose out a bit.

I think it was deT that said most of the T4 is absorbed in 20 minutes
and the 4 hours is the time you shouldn't take T4 after eating or
taking supplements to give time for your stomach to empty.

It's consistency that matters though, all that will happen if you take
T4 with food is that you won't absorb as much so will need to take more
but this doesn't matter as long as you do the same thing all the time.

I take my T4 in the morning an hour before food but I wouldn't worry if
I was running late and only left half an hour occasionally. I often
have some supper a couple of hours before going to bed so that would
give me a problem. Also I want my metabolism to slow at night for sleep
and I suspect this will slow the absorbtion down a bit anyway but I
don't think it really matters, what is important is what works for you
to help you be consistent.
