what is present marketshare of pig thyroid in the USA? (thyroid diabetes insulin diabetic)
what is present marketshare of pig thyroid in the USA?
anyone on a.s.thyroid have a clue as to what
percent marketshare Armour (and generic)
pig Thyroid have in the USA?
i'd think that it's a lot more than 1%, but
i wouldn't bet any large amount one way
or the other
i'd also think that the percentage usage of
Armour and generic pig thyroid has recently
increased by a fair amount, given the recent
unavailability of synthetic Thyrolar (natural
Armour and synthetic Thyrolar are both T4:T3
(4:1) combos)
thank you in advance, even if it's only an
"educated" guess
please also be kind, and cross-post
to misc.health.diabetes
bill (type-1 diabetic since '57)
p.s.
fwiw, there are roughly still 100 "visible"
diabetics in the USA using beef insulin
(the large majority are type-1 diabetics)
i'm one of the "invisible" beef insulin users,
in that i had the good sense to stock up with
Lilly's Iletin-I in 1999 and 2000. only God
knows how many other "invisible" beef insulin
users there are in the USA, but given that
beef-insulin is still available in the USA
and India, i wouldn't be surprised at a number
that is above 100. maybe even *well* above 100?
anyhow, Lilly's pork insulin (Iletin-II) is
still sold in the USA (http://www.hocks.com has it for
$42/vial), but the total USA volume sold is
well under 1% of all insulin sold in the USA,
and afaik continues to dwindle
in the USA there are roughly 1 million type-1
diabetics and roughly 15+ million type-2s
all type-1s use insulin
of the type-2 diabetics, roughly 25-to-40%
use insulin, and on average those that do use
insulin use a _*LOT*_ more insulin than the
type-1 diabetics do
