I had my suppression check today to see if I am ready to start stims for my
second IVF. I have been on a month of birth control pills and about 7 or more
days of lupron 10 units...well...my estrogen came back high at 84 and I cant
start my stims. I have been instructed to take 10 units of lupron twice a day
for 5 days to see if it will go down.
My question is...what are some of the reasons why my Estrogen is so high??

My ultrasound didnt show any cysts...sigh...the last time I went for my
supression check I had AF so thats explains why it was at a good level. This
time AF isnt here so maybe she is taking her sweet old time and enjoying the
estrogen....who the heck knows! lol

Hum...I'm wondering if it is a side-effct from the BCP. Either way,
Lupron *should* put you in stasis, so you will probably be ok.

Someone else might have a better explanation, though. Sorry you have
hit this road block, Cyndie!

I have been doing some reading. I am one of those nerds that spends hours
reading up on stuff I dont know.
I found it could be the following reasons:
- Left over estrogen from a previous medicated cycle
- Cyst
- Ovarian activity
- Pre-menopause
- Ovarian Reserve....etc....

I hope its the first 3 and not the last 2!!!

It is, since you are using Lupron, the last two are not quite
irrelevant (they might have been had it been a simple CD3
E2 level).

Did the BCP overlap w/ the Lupron, btw? That's a way to
prevent the formation of cysts and ovarian activity.

Yes it did! I am wondering....the other night I brought the Lupron to my
parents in a little cooler (it was an exceptional warm day in boston and I had
a 1/2 hour ride) . When I got home I forgot to put the lupron back in the
fridge. Could I have possibly ruined the lupron?? If I ruined the potency from
not storing it properly over night could that be why my estrogen is a little up
there maybe? This was friday night...so if the lupron was ruined I took it for
3 days before my blood test. I am probably just grasping at straws but not
storing it properly for almost 24 hours is bothering me.

If the temperatures weren't too high at night, I think it is probably
OK. When is your next check? If it's still high, I would switch to
a new bottles.

The temps weren't too high but for safety sake I cracked open a new
bottle...said "cheers" and hoped for lower E2 levels on friday!!

Cyndie,
I haven't really been following things, but how long has it been since your
last stim cycle? That may shed some light on why the elevated E2 (which
also explains why your period hasn't arrived yet....it needs to drop,
first). My guess is you probably have numerous tiny cysts (unmeasurable,
but still estrogen-producing).

I've been in your situation and another week on Lupron did the trick for me.
I really doubt it's due to the Lupron being out of the fridge, unless it got
really warm or something....and being in your neck of the woods, I know what
the weather's been like, and I think you're safe there.
