Default 14 Months Post-Vas and Still No "All-Clear" (vasectomy sperm)

Had my vasectomy April 2003 and still getting "non-motile" sperm in my
samples (as recently as June 21 2004). Results have all been
non-motile since about August 2003 (I think), but this feels like it
has gone on forever.

Has anyone else experienced similar results? I could use some ideas on
what to do.

Hi,

Going back a couple of years there was a poster from the UK (Nigel) who had
this happen to him. I seem to remember that it took just under two years to
get clearance. I think his count dropped to be so low that there was
statistically no chance of fathering a child, so he was given "Special
clearance". There are a few studies in the sperm counts section of the
medical journals extracts page on the website below that may be of interest.

It all depends on your sperm count and which direction it's going in. I.E.
if you are heading towards zero slowly but surely then it may be best to
just persevere. However, if it's not moving in the right direction, or is
still quite high then it may be necessary to investigate.

What has your doctor had to say on the subject?

My doctor admits my results are unusual and difficult to explain. His
best guess is that there may be a "pocket" that is taking a long time
to drain. He says wait one to two months and try again.

Talking to your doctor is the thing to do, as David says. Even if you
have to insist on it. I believe there are some doctors who view
persistent non-motile sperm as essentially sterile. But you should
definitely confirm with your doctor before . . .ummmm. . .taking the
plunge.

Sorry to hear it. Sue for malpractice? No I'm not suggesting or recommending it. The
thought just flashed through my mind.

Sadly, no ideas. I wish you luck.
