Default Astelin, anti-histamines - use for runny/congestion, not dry/inflammed - correct? (nasal)

i'm getting so confused by all the different meds out there. now, i
know i've asked this already, but somehting like Astelin is most
benificial for a dry, runny, congested, nasal drip type condition -
not something that you'd want to use if you where primarily very dry
and swollen with no significant congestion or drip - just dry and
swollen shut - might make the dry swollen condition worse?

i gotta get a firm grip on the diff between decongenstants,
anti-histamines and such.
