KIRKLAND ARTS CENTER CELEBRATES ARTS AND COMMUNITY AT SUMMERFEST 2003
Kirkland Arts Center's Summerfest: a festival of the arts is the Eastside's
premier celebration of arts and community. This year's festival will be held
July 11-13, in Downtown Kirkland's Marina Park on the shores of Lake
Washington.
Summerfest 2003 has something for everyone: serious art buyers, casual
fairgoers, and fun-loving families. Over 110 juried artists and artisans
will present work in a variety of media, including glass, painting,
print-making, ceramic ware, metal and wood sculpture, fiber art, and
jewelry. Amongst our featured artists are Jamie Johnson, Susan Glass, B J
Guderian, Diane Culhane and Brett Varney.
Summerfest 2003 also features activities for art lovers of all ages"
Artists in Action:
Get up close and personal with professional artists. Watch as they reveal
their creative secrets and share their technical insights in ceramics,
glass, printmaking, bronze casting and more. Sparks will fly when Bellevue
Community College's foundry program shows how to cast molten metal. Do you
want to be an artist in action, too? You'll also have a chance to try your
hand at drawing, painting or sculpting from a live model. On Sunday Sogetsu
Ikebana master Nobuko Relnick will lead an ikebana class - bring your own
flowers and containers and go home with a sculpture in flora!.
