Default Bit of pain

Hello all,

I had my vasectomy done on 27th June. Everything went fine. Had my bath on
the following Tuesday as instructed and back to work on Wednesday.

Then, I started experiencing pain down below. I was wearing tight (sports)
underwear as recommended but was experiencing some discomfort.

Yesterday (Saturday) I bought a jock-strap because it was quite
uncomfortable down below un-supported.

Today, with the strap, is OK, but I did take a couple of paracetamol this
morning.

Should I go and see a doctor because there is a slight swelling and quite
uncomfortable without the strap, or is this normal.

If it is normal, when can I expect to be discomfort-free?

TIA

Martin

Martin,
Pain of any sort is not a good thing. Is there any swelling?
Discharge at the incision? If not then I would give it a few days, but
if there is any swelling, fever or discharge see a doctor IMMEDIATELY
!!
It took me about 10 days for the dull ache to go away and to feel
100%
All good medicine,

Hello Martin,

As Rob says, if there is discharge, fever, signs of infection then you
should be looked at again. Your doctor should have discussed what is/is not
normal and told you how to contact him if you need help or have any queries.

Bruising and a little swelling are pretty normal to some extent. In some
cases the bruising and swelling don't appear for a few days. Again, this is
not unusual. The group website survey shows 63% of men reporting bruising
and swelling and 20% takes longer than two weeks to heal.

Clearly the supporter is helping, and taking a pain killer is fine too.
In most cases the swelling and bruising should be pretty well gone by two
weeks, but some men find it helps to wear the supporter for a while longer -
even at night - for about a month afterwards.

I'd suggest wearing the supporter whilst it helps, also take it easy
when you can. If you are worried about it, then give the doctor a call.
