Can someone please help me decipher my SBFT results? (duodenum small intestine stomach intestine throat)
Hi Marlena,
The jejunum is the middle part of the small intestine. Normally,
there is roughly 15 feet of small intestine which is divided into 3
sections. The first section is called the duodenum, the second section
is the jejunum, and the last section is the ileum. Terminal ileum is
the end of the ileum, where the small intestine ends. This is where
your stricture is located.
A diverticulum is a sac or pouch formed at a weak point in the walls
of the alimentary tract, which is anywhere from one's throat all the
out the other end. Your diverticulum is located somewhere between the
middle to the end of the jejunum section of your small intestine.
Lumen in this context means the space within a tubular or sac-like
part, such as a blood vessel, the intestines, or the stomach.
Basically the report says that there is a diverticulum which you have
had for some time and it is not getting any larger, and it doesn't
appear to be problematic at this time. The stricture in your terminal
ileum is narrwed to about 50% of normal, and there is no sign of
blockage.
Hope this helps.
Feel well.
