Danbury Hospital to form Lyme disease task force

By Robert Miller
THE NEWS-TIMES
2003-08-11
DANBURY — Danbury Hospital will form its own internal task force to
educate area physicians about Lyme disease.

"The point of it is to help all the doctors get to speed on this,"
said Dr. Gary Schleiter, chief of the hospital's infectious diseases
department.

Schleiter said the panel will reflect the complexities of the
disease, with representatives from the hospital's pediatrics,
neurology, primary care, public health, internal medicine, infectious
diseases and cardiology departments.

Its goal will be to disseminate the latest research and evidence-
based treatment protocols to area physicians. The hospital may also
set up a library on Lyme disease so that it can become a regional
information resource.

Schleiter said most area doctors have a good understanding of the
disease, but may still lack the most up-to-date information on it.

"There are doctors who have just recently moved into the area and may
not have learned about Lyme where they were before," he said. "We
also may have some physicians assistants who haven't studied
extensively about it. Those are the types of people we want to
reach."

This is really scarey. A group of rheumatologists who have a Lyme disease
clinic are know as ABL specialists. That is "anything but Lyme". You have to
have an EM rash, swollen knee and positive Lyme disease test. Then you still
get the shortest treatment protocol.

Heaven help us.

Boy, do I agree! Been to them! This is scare! They told me I had lupus.
Instead it was undertreated Lyme! You see these guys if you want a diagnosis
of lupus or fibromyalgia.

Danbury tells everyone w/EMs that they either have lupus, syphilis, or
fibromyalgia.

If you have joint pains after a bite you have fibrositis or tendonitis.

So, I don't think this so-called Task Force on LD will have anything
constructive to offer--except for more misdiagnoses of ABL (Anything But Lyme).

Great insurance ploy. Control the situation w/a task force bent on controlling
the types of diagnoses.
