Default Depersonalization kinda day (ativan heart)

I've been doing some volunteer computer work at a community center. I took
a half an ativan, got there and while talking to some people began to feel
depersonalized. Somehow I was able to ignore and continue talking though.
Is depresonalization more or less where you feel you're outside yourself
or disconnected from oneself? I prefer depersonalization to the racing heart
and sweating of a full-blown PA anyday.

Hi Doug,
yes such feeling do fall under depersonalisation...for me it can be much
more intense however and I also get feelings of derealisation, in which I
don't feel real or my surrounds are not real. This in turn triggers a
physical PA and so I end up with the full-blown attack as well.
Well done in not getting spooked by the experience. Remember you are in
control.

Hi, Doug,
I used to go through that a lot and it sounds like depersonalization to me.
It's such an odd feeling.
Sounds like you did well ignoring it. And I agree, I'd rather go through
that than the racing heart "I gotta get the he** out of here" feeling.
smiles,
Elise

I am slowly learning (you can tell the slowly part by all of the brusies
on my forehead from walking into walls) that facing our issues and
fighting through them is usually the right thing. You did well!

good you for!

If I still felt depersonalized, I take the other half of the Ativan.

depersonalization (you feel unreal, or disconnected from yourself)
derealization (the world seems unreal)

I have experienced both when anxious and they are very unpleasant. Mine
responded readily to Xanax.

Yes, that is depersonalization. I think it's no fun. A benzo helps me. Philip

Dear Doug,

It sure sounds like you had some depersonalization. Good for you for working
through it I think it is great you are doing some volunteer work. Do you
enjoy it? Take care!

It is so nice of you to give some of your time at the community center.
You did very well to stay and get past your feelings.

Take care,
Liz

It's sometimes depressing to work there. There are two young black guys there
who are apparently homeless. It's a crime that smart guys like that end up
on the streets. There's also a mother and daughter who come by who are having
a hard time. The mother is handicapped and has a hard time controlling her
daughter. It's a sad situation.
