Default Do practice tests predict passing of NCLEX?

Did any of you pass the NCLEX when you weren't passing your practice
tests, especially the Kaplan NCLEX Question Trainer CD? I was the top
of my class in school but I'm only getting 60 and 70 percent on the
practice tests, and I'm trying to decide if they make the practice
tests really hard or whether I should reschedule my NCLEX test date.

Stop practicing, stop studying, stop fretting. Go take the test and follow
your instincts.
That's what I did but your mileage may vary.

I was out of school 25 yrs (Canadian grad) when I took it last yr. Did a few
of the tests in Lippincot,( certainly not all of them) and the Kaplan CD.
Got up to avg 75-80%. I work in labor and delivery, so I have been out of
the med surg world for a long time. I was in and out in less than 1 hr,
computer stopped at 75 questions. Figured I either did really well, or
really bad. I knew I didn't do really bad.
Don't pay any attention to the NCLEX website that says if you answer a
question wrong, the next one is easier. You can't tell.
I found it rather easy, or I am great guesser...........lol

Good luck and most of all RELAX

Hello:
I passed my LPN NCLEX on the first try!

Contact the Kaplan people and ask what a 60-70% represents. Our college
gave us a practise national test (4 hr, 1000s of questions<grin>). On that
I got about 68%. But when I contacted the company was told the "pass"
was about 55%!!! The person I talked to advised me to go write the NCLEX
before I forgot anything more<grin again>.

It seems to have something to do with the computer modelling. ie They
EXPECT you to only get a little more than half the questions right.
But the key is:how difficult are the questions you're answering.

For me, the computer shut off around 90-91 questions. But as you may
know it can shut off at that number because you're obviously smart----
OR obviously ignorant. Good Luck

Here is the way I looked at it:
You are aiming to have it shut off after 75 questions.(which mine did)
Since 25 of those are survey test questions and do not count towards
your total correct--you are now looking at about 50 questions you need
to pass. Since the pass level must be at least 50-60% correct, you are
really only talking about 25-35 questions that must be correct to pass
the test, and shut off at 75 questions.

You should concentrate on getting at least the first 8-10 questions
correct, since that will put you above the level of passing. This
worked for me, only using Mosby's Review of Questions, and NO REVIEW
CLASS. I was a good student and graduated with honors.

Good luck--RELAX!
