I have been on Celexa 10/20/10 mg for the last 9 months. It has been the
1st SSRI drug I have ever taken. Although my family sees and likes the "new" me I have really not enjoyed feeling like a zombie. The main reason I want to get off Celexa is because is makes me so absent minded, forgetful (short term mostly), and I fear I look geniunly stupid to my coworkers. It is also hard to focus to get things/projects done at work. I also find myself using incorrect words/stumbling with words and speech. There has been some good but I am concerned about the feeling of being lobotomized (harsh I know). So Tues. I go to my PDoc and see what he suggests next. Anyone have any ideas on what I could try next? I'm looking for something that sharpens my thinking not dulls it. -- ========== Please DELETE this text block when replying! ========== Send submissions for ASAPM to: asapm@stump.algebra.com The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm ========= This notice is added to each approved article ========== |

If you don`t have depression, just anxiety and/or panic, you could try a benzo such as xanax, klonopin, etc. This class of meds can be used on a "as needed" basis, or taken regularly. Benzos are very effective meds for anxiety disorders. They can also be used in conjunction with antidepressants. If you do have depression mingled in with the anxiety, then a antidepressant is your best bet. Just because celexa made you feel like a zombie, doesn`t mean all antidepressants will do that. Often times it takes trying a few meds to find the right one. You could also talk to your doctor about the tricyclic class of antidepressants. They are as effective as the SSRI`s but are often times overlooked. Of course there is also cognitive behavioral therapy, the most effective therapy for anxiety disorders and what`s great about it, is it doesn`t cause any side-effects ![]() Take care! I did well on Zoloft for about 6 years.
I did feel medicated at higher doses but that was necessary in the beginning because Panic Disorder was out of control and I needed my emotions muted to get out of the house. Are you taking any other meds like benzos that could affect your short term memory ? Keep us posted. I'm sure you'll get some great advice here.
