I am currently taking 4 .25 per day, however I found something that says
duration of action is 14 hours. I suppose after 6 hours it tapers off, thus
requiring a subsequent dosage? Help is greatly appreciated.

(extended release) has just recently become available. Unlike the
original xanax, Xanax XR only has to be taken once daily. The following

Xanax XR has finally become available in the US. You only have to take
that once every 24 hours and it will keep you on an even keel without
*interdose anxiety*. It appears that many doctors are not aware that
it's on the market now so you may want to tell your doc ;-) Philip

I got a 90 count with 2 refills from a neurologist at first, then when I
found a shrink and he fills my scripts for 100 count of 1mg pills. Even
though my dose is 0.5mg he does this so it'll be cheaper. So I just break
them in half and one refill lasts me a litttle over 2 months but that's just
me. Every doctor is different and yours may be doing this with you since
he/she may want to keep you coming back to see it's working properly, etc.
Plus I don't have health insurance so many doctors give me a break since
they know I can't afford multiple appointments... Kevin...
