The Gleason score is the degree of glanular disorder in a prostate cancer.
It does not measure the volume or extent of the tumor. The Gleason score is
formed by adding the predominant Gleason grade (1-5) to the next most
prominent grade (1-5) which results in a 2-10 range.

The amount of involvement of the prostate cores can be estimated by the
pathologist. The number of cores that are involved and the percentage of
involvement is often recorded. Those observations can be useful in
determining extent and discussing prognosis, but the Gleason score is
generally thought to have more predictive value.

A 6 core biopsy is OK. I like to use 10, as I think it is better. Some
people do more than 10. I think the final word on just how many cores you
need is still out.

PSAD of 0.30 with a PSA of 12 should get your attention. Even given a neg
bx I think it would be smart to do a follow up bx at some point. Just when
should be a matter to talk with your urology doc about.

Jeez, I don't know about this, George.

Your sig *sounds* so inviting. Free medical care for all. Who could
possibly disagree with that concept?

But...

The government already *does* run the Post Office. Have you noticed that
UPS and FedEx are laughing all the way to the bank! When is the last time
you used the P.O. for something that absolutely, positively had to get
there on time?

I'm not so sure I want my medical care provided by the same folks who
handle issuing drivers' licences, and provide airport baggage searches.

And, I won't even mention the infamous $600 dollar toilet seats.

But, wait a minute! We don't have to guess about all this... Let's just
ask Derry how well it works for him, shall we?

Sorry.
I'm frothing at the mouth, and off-topic.

George, just leave your little sig at home, and I'll sit down and shut up.

Our UK National Health Service definitely has it's flaws but I have to
admit it's a pretty good system overall.

About 30 years ago I put my back out and was in hospital for six weeks. I
was ordered into hospital the same day because I went into urinary
retention.I dread to think what might have happened under another system.
Heck, I'm a farmer! We are MEANT to grumble!<G>

You've not reached the 'ageist' category yet Derry and your post code may
also be in your favour.
Derek.
