Husband's Vasectomy - update (vasectomy job abdomen)
Hi Tracey,
concerned
All men have different experiences when it comes to bruising and swelling.
Some men have virtually no swelling and bruising (as in my case), and at the
other end of the scale you can get some spectacular bruising happen! I did
once find some pictures of severe bruising post vasectomy, but when I came
to put a link on the website, they had gone. Anyway, the bruising in the
pictures I found did include bruising on the penis, so I suspect his
bruising is not abnormal.
Regarding the pain in the gut, this is what's known as a "referral pain",
EG, where pain surfaces elsewhere in the body from the actual injury. And
you are right - it's probably nothing abnormal at this stage. They don't
tell you to take it easy for nothing!
If you do an internet search you'll find they do occur in various areas. As
I understand it, in the womb, the testicles and kidneys form together and
then split up and move to towards the places they will eventually settle,
but some form of nerve pathway exists between them. If you get kicked in the
nuts by a toddler (been there, done that, go the T shirt), you will feel
pain in the abdomen. Kick a man in the nuts, and he'll always feel pain in
the areas you describe because of this effect.
To be honest, it sounds like you are slightly concerned, so my advice would
be to ring the doctor in order to let him know the condition, and allay your
worries. It does sound pretty spectacular though!
And you may well make an even better job of it than your husband!!
David
