To Ensure privacy for what a layman would call treatment of the mind and
emotions - I am not medically trained -
****************I have health insurance
that gives us participating providers which are all around for medical
treatment but uses managed care for psych. or substance abuse. For
medical treatment we can go to any physician and pay 20 per cent after a
deductable and after a certain amount get 100 percent payed with a
non-participating provider as long as the charges are "reasonable"
The managed care for the psych sort of forces us to use their providers
since if we don't we only get about half back, or something like that.
Am I better off getting a mind problem treated by an Internist or
General
Doctor or Cardiologist-Internist or Family Doctor or perhaps Neurologist
under the physical medicine rather than a psychologist or psychiatrist
or social worker or counselor under the managed care psych plan?
I ask this for privacy also, since with the regular medicine I am not
put with a diagnosis of Psych., since I am in fact also being treated
for = for example - Glaucoma or Hypertension or Asthma or Detached
Retina Reattached and watched for safety or - any of a hundred other
conditions depending on who the I happens to be in my family and friends
with similar problems all there as we get older in life. The diagnosis
would be for example Hypertesion and Asthma and by the way Dr. Whoever
MD board certified in internal medicine, do you think I might take for
example Prozac and are you sure it would not interfere with any of the
Physical problems I have and medicines I am taking/not taking?
After all, if I went to a Psychiatrist and got a prescription, I would
still have to call my Internist or Opthalmologist or Mumbo Jumbo
specialist to clear that the Psych medicine did not hurt in any way my
physical condition, or if I couldn't keep the medical details straight
would have to ask Dr. Psych to call Dr. Internist and Dr. Opthalmologist
or vice versa or versa vice or ask myself and write down and go over the
medical stuff 100 times and still not understand what I was asking and
the answers anyway.
After all, I did great on science in high school around 45 years ago but
graduated from college in 1963 and nearly flunked Chemistry and Calculus
while I was there, since it got somewhat harder than high school. I
didn't dare take courses in biology or anatomy because I knew just
walking into the classroom would separate my head from my shoulders with
no way to reattach it. Now I read everything I can on the internet and
bookstores and the
**web and maybe understand something or not or who knows.
Suppose I have something like psych problems and maybe ADHD discovered
now and could be seen by an internist or neurologist anyway reasonably?
How does it affect my privacy and everything else if I classify myself
as either A Psych case
**********or B Physical Medicine case with a few
attachments?
After all, an Internist or Family Doctor or General Doctor or even a
Pediatrician and certainly a Neurologist can prescribe me Prozac or one
of its clones or soon to be discovered successors. I understand even
Children and Cats or Dogs are being prescribed Prozac and for every book
in favor of it there is a book against it.
NSAIDS and digestive drugs used to be prescription matters but now
Ibuprophen
and Zantac are sold OTC even in stores where nobody who works there
speaks english or ever met anyone who speaks English and anyway I have
relatives who do not speak English
Perhaps Prozac will soon be OTC as it is over the Patent and everybody
calls it fluoxetine or something a tine, * Maybe I can pick it up
where I bring the dog to be groomed or when I buy a three dollar
calculator that does square roots and graphs every equation I never
could graph in High School or College.
Any comments?
Does it pay to be a Psych case?
I only pay around $20/ month to ramble all over email and the internet
on webtv and that must have some the****utic value. I don't use my real
name on the internet. I write that I am a talking Kangaroo or Alligator
or Penguin Or Seal or Bear and if anyone writes back - are you really a
Penguin for example; I didn't know penguins could talk; if that really
truly true or could you be a human who says he is a talking Penguin I
can always delete the email or unplug the computer and go back to
wondering where I parked my car or is that my wife in the other room or
some romantically inclined neighbor or their dog and does my cat love me
and could I teach him to talk if I really tried?
By the way I tend to write compulsively and to rambler and talk too much
but I have been ---------- ramble ramble ramble
