Default MED: Lipitor (kidney urinalysis)

I went to a funeral last week. We had to stand a great deal after the
funeral at the funeral home and then walk a good distance to the grave site at the
cemetery. I became very fatigued. My legs began to hurt like I had strained
them. I asked the niece I was riding home with if I could go sit in her car.
We started walking to her car, and I had to call her to come help me walk.
Every step I took, my feet would turn outward, like I had muscle weakness. I
strained my ankle very badly. I had to be helped to the car by two men. It was
a very embarrassing time and a very frightening time. A couple of days later
I went to the doctor. She did blood work and a urinalysis to check me
because I have been on Lipitor a long time and she suspected the muscle weakness was
from that. Sure enough, my creatine came back "sky high". That is a kidney
test. My doctor took me off of the Lipitor right away. I am to go back for a
check up in a month. I just wanted to share this with ya'll. I never dreamed
that day that I could not walk that it was from Lipitor overload. I thought it
was from the CFS. I was so tired. But I was very surprised and very grateful
to have a good doctor that caught this. Any of ya'll on Lipitor...be watchful
for muscle weakness in some form. God Bless Ya'll.

Default MED: Lipitor (lipitor kidney)

Thank you for sharing your information and I hope you are feeling better.

I was wondering what lipitor is and what it does. (I've had this for 15
years and take muscle-skeletal relaxants due to the same sypmtoms you are
describing, but I have them all the time if I do anything of significance,
even grocery shopping. My right side is worse and my right arm is affected
as well. I have been convinced I had MS but the Drs. say no. Does anyone
else with long term CFS have symptoms you describe? It is very debilitating
and frustrating. I even had SURGERY on my foot because the podiatrist said
my "bunion" could be causing my leg pain. That was 2 years ago and my leg
is worse than ever. :-(

BTW, the doctor ssince then have said, by judging by the left foot, which
the podiatrist was going to work on, the surgery wasn't even necessary. I
will pursue this to my grave. I want to know what is wrong with my LEG/s
and right arm/both hands!! But especially my LEG> it sound s like what you
describe, I take medication including pain meds and it doesn't always work.

Thanks for listening.

Default MED: Lipitor (diet cholesterol)

Hi Marcia,

Good to hear from you. Isn't Lipitor for cholesterol? If so, then I'm glad
for the info. I'm not on a cholesterol lowering drug, but am pretty sure
I'm heading in that direction. I've been far too long in that category
known as 'can possibly reduce it by making changes in her diet'. That
hasn't worked out for me.

I'm glad you found out so quickly what the problem was. It's so easy to
dismiss everything as CFS related - and dangerous to do so.
