Default Mildly depressed (depression)

Hi. I am mildly depressed. My depression is not running the show but
it is no fun to put up with. In large part, I am lonely. In the past
I have had people to laugh and joke with, to cut up and play the part.
To sing to. To clown around with. Now there is no one to be that
way with.

I think that perhaps interacting with people on this site will be
helpful.

Hi Don,

Welcome. I hope this works for you. The trick is to know how to
balance what you have here. It can be a wonderfully supportive place. It can
also be uh,,,,, well depressing

Why are you lonely now?

in faith,

Grace

Welcome to the group, Don. There are a few of us guys here. Also,
tomorrow, there will be a reminder for the men's depression discussion
group at 01.30 GMT (8.30 p.m. CDST in the U.S.). This is done via a Web
interface, and it is recommended that you explore the site first. If you
are interested, the URL is http://www.maledepression.com/chat.html (or try
chat2.html - there is a new interface.)

Here, we are all fellow-sufferers. No judgments are passed. It is good to
feel that we are not the only ones who feel this way. There are no
restrictions on what you can write about, but we do ask that if you are
going to mention something others might find upsetting, you refer to it in
the Subject of your message, so that they can avoid it. Browse through
previous messages to get a feel for what the group is like.

I ama aged 60, and have had mild depression most of my life, with a few
severe bouts. I know the feeling you describe. I wondered why happiness
never seemed to arrive, even when my life was otherwise going well.

It seems that your cir***stances have changed, if you no longer have the
company that you used to have. That alone can be unhelpful. Tell us about
it, if you wish. We respect confidences, but remember that this is after
all, a public forum. I get a bit of the SAD syndrome too - things are
worse in the winter.

Doug.

Thanks Tina. I saw an article which recommended exposure to batteries of
fluorescent lights. Sunshine creates Vitamin D.

: fluorescent lights.

It is important that they are FULL SPECTRUM fluor. lights.

Household and work/school Fluor. lights are NOT full spectrum, eh?

The ones for growing plants are.

Hi Don. Welcome. I've been away for awhile.

I have a low grade depression lately. Like a fever but less fun.
I understand the loneliness part. I'm suffering from that myself. I
miss just having someone to joke with and fool around and hang out for
hours doing nothing. The internet is not the beall end all of
replacements but it can help a bit. I know I've gotten great relief
here in the past. Hope you do too.
