Default Mirtazapine (aka Zispin/Remeron) (depression paxil)

Hi,

I've been taking zispin for around 5 weeks - 15mg for the first week then
30mg for 3 weeks. At that time I spoke to my doc, said I was still feeling
pretty depressed, and he raised it to 45mg. A week on, my depression is
worse.

Prior to that i'd been on 40mg of seroxat/paxil for around 4 years. I
stopped taking that over a period of 7 days, without any real problems.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone has been through similar, or could advice
me. Is my 45mg dose of zispin equivalent to the 40mg of seroxat I was
taking ? I was on low dosages for two weeks while i changed over, maybe
it's the effects of that catching up with me ? Or maybe it is withdrawl
symptoms from the seroxat - after having taken it for so long, I could
imagine it could easily be a month or so before it was all out of my system

Cheers

pete

Default Mirtazapine (aka Zispin/Remeron) (depression neurotransmitters serotonin)

I find Mirtazapine to be longest of all AD's to start working. It took
12 weeks for me. I think this is due to non re-uptake inhibition of
neuro transmitters like serotonin. Mirtazapine just causes quicker
firing of the neurotransmitters nor-adrenaline and serotoinin. Try
taking 50mg of 5-HTP with it to lift the depression quicker. CAUTION
make sure your not on Paxil/Seroxat if you do take 5-HTP. It will only
work on Mirtazapine due to it's method of action.

THAT GOES FOR ANY OTHER ANTI-DEPRESSANT. Don't take 5-HTP on top of
them. Mirtazapine is the only one that it's safe to do this with.

Default Mirtazapine (aka Zispin/Remeron) (mirtazapine serotonin)

Health food stores. It's the precursor to serotonin. Once 5-HTP
crosses the blood brain barrier it is then converted to serotonin.
Mirtazapine should increase firing of this due to increased amount and
anti depressant effects should develop quicker.

If anyone knows how this works, they will also know that mirtazapine
is the only anti depressant this would work for. The rest would put
you at risk of serotonin syndrome.

My experience with mirtazipine was all bad. It turned me into a foggy
groggy eating machine. In addition, it seemed as if a little demon
was hovering near me and whacking me over the head with Maxwell's
Silver Hammer about every five seconds or so. Anyone else want to
share their experiences with mirtazipine?

So I can go to any health food store and ask for 5-HTP ?

Funny, I've never heard of this before.

I didn't get the headaches, but definitely the grogginess all day long and
the increased appetite. It was horrible. The worst AD I've ever tried.

For me, the higher the dose the more depressed I got, linearly.

Usually I was ok in the AM, but extremely depressed in the PM before I
took the dose again.

Default Mirtazapine (aka Zispin/Remeron) (wellbutrin remeron)

I tried remeron first at 15mg (almost couldn't get off the floor),
30mg (more energy but still depressed) and 45 (okay but not much
improvement in mood). Appetite was out of control. The only good thing
I can say about it is that it didn't effect my libido. To me and ssri
with wellbutrin was much better.
