I find Mirtazapine to be longest of all AD's to start working. It took
12 weeks for me. I think this is due to non re-uptake inhibition of neuro transmitters like serotonin. Mirtazapine just causes quicker firing of the neurotransmitters nor-adrenaline and serotoinin. Try taking 50mg of 5-HTP with it to lift the depression quicker. CAUTION make sure your not on Paxil/Seroxat if you do take 5-HTP. It will only work on Mirtazapine due to it's method of action. THAT GOES FOR ANY OTHER ANTI-DEPRESSANT. Don't take 5-HTP on top of them. Mirtazapine is the only one that it's safe to do this with. -- ChrisC - chrispche@nospam.yahoo.co.uk "Enlightenment, for a wave in the ocean, is the moment the wave realises it is water." Health food stores. It's the precursor to serotonin. Once 5-HTP
crosses the blood brain barrier it is then converted to serotonin. Mirtazapine should increase firing of this due to increased amount and anti depressant effects should develop quicker. If anyone knows how this works, they will also know that mirtazapine is the only anti depressant this would work for. The rest would put you at risk of serotonin syndrome. -- ChrisC - chrispche@nospam.yahoo.co.uk "Enlightenment, for a wave in the ocean, is the moment the wave realises it is water."
