Default Moles (itch benign)

Is it possible for *benign* moles to itch or be a little sore?

I'm seeing my doctor next week about one under my left armpit - I've
had it for many years and occasionally it has become itchy (usually
when the weather is hot and sticky as it has been lately) but it
usually passes. Trouble is that over the past couple of days this mole
has been more persistently itchy and sometimes slightly sore.

I'm just curious whether these symptoms definitely indicate
malignancy, or whether perfectly benign moles can also show such
symptoms (it might at least put my mind at rest until next week when I
see the doc).

Default Moles (itch cancer)

Yep and yep.

Worry about changes in color, shape & size.

I have moles which are, at the moment, of no concern.

3 years ago I was painting my toenails in January (which
is something I never did at that time of year). I noticed
a tiny little mole between my toes was different. It wasn't
cute and light brown and round. It changed to a very dark
and uneven color and looked bubbly and had an odd shape.
I went to the doc immediately. 3 surgical procedures finally
got it all. Prior to that it didn't itch or hurt or anything. It was
just silently trying to do me in.

You're right to try to see your doc ASAP. My best friend
also has a history of skin cancer. She's had 3 removed so
far over the last few years. Right now she has a very suspicious
spot on her belly. She knows it needs to be removed but she
keeps putting it off b/c she's very busy. NOT a plan if you ask
me. Get in. Get checked. Get it gone (if recommended).

Me too, too many to even bother (or have the time to) looking at.

Glad they got that taken care of.

Now there's someone who should perhaps rush right away to the doctor..at
least to have it looked at.
Light a fire under her.

You're right! With the first one she was very worried.
Second one less so. Third one was no big deal. They
were ALL cancer. With this one she wants to wait
until after she spends a week at the shore (it's part of
her job). She leaves Sunday. I wonder if she can be
seen today... I think she'll get a phone call from me right
after I hit "Send." Thanks for lighting a fire under ME! ;-)

Default Moles (itching)

Thanks for all the helpful replies, it's appreciated. :-)

One last question - does the fact that the mole is only
itching/slightly sore *intermittently* (it's been okay all afternoon
for example) mean anything in particular? I mean, presumably IF it WAS
malignant then it would itch/be sore pretty much all of the time?

Thanks

Default Moles (cancer)

Hi Ruth,
Perhaps she'll take care of it after her vacation.
( I didn't mean "light a fire and rush right in", I meant get an appointment)
and not all "spots" are cancer.
Hopefully she'll be fine.
Hugs

Geezzzz.... will you quit this crap???
See a freakin' doctor!!!
Do you think we can dx. your problem here.
You are spending too much time posting here and fixating about it.
MOST LIKELY IT IS NOTHING.

But you will not know until you get it checked.
GO...DON'T MESS AROUND WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS.

That was somewhat uncalled for.

If you'll read back to my original posting, please see this pertinent
part of the message:

"I'm seeing my doctor next week ..... "

I am due to see him on Wednesday.

I am asking these additional questions out of nothing more than
curiosity.
