Default moms alzheimers (divorce stroke)

I went to moms after work yesterday and stayed overnight. We had a nice
day for the first 4 hours, after that I was no good and she wanted me
out, etc. I am use to this and she is always trying to send my dad out
as she thinks he has a girlfriend and then she says she wants a divorce.
Its so amazing, sometimes I first get there and she is very nasty and
other times so sweet. I don't know how he takes it 24/7. No wonder he
goes out shopping as soon as I get there.
Sometimes she gets crying about nothing. She can just be talking and all
of a sudden start crying.
I have learned so much about her past since this stroke/alzheimers
happened 10 months ago. Sometimes I wonder if its all real but my sister
and I are getting to know part of her we never knew before. I am happy
for these days as we never told her how much we loved her before.
I don't know if we feel worse about her being paralyzed with the stroke
or her alzheimers. In one way, Not that its a good thing to have the
stroke, but at least we know where she is all the time, I just wish we
could give her things to do but she can't use her left side and her mind
doesn't stay focused to long.
I am so glad we found this group to talk to. Its nice to know we are not
alone.

Default moms alzheimers (dementia stroke)

Nancy, it is not the real person talking, it is a damaged brain spewing up
all sorts of junk from its darkest recesses. Remember that, because you
knew your REAL mom before this happened to her.

There are medications that can help her be in a better space. She really
ought to be going to a daycare center where they can re-direct her mental
energies a bit, and keep her busy and occupied. If not a daycare center
for her dementia, then a rehab for the stroke effects. Look into it. It
can make a big difference. Keep your courage up.

Default moms alzheimers (depression depakote hallucinations)

Is your mother on any meds for depression? My mother in law was put
on depakote for her hallucinations and it has made all the difference
in the world. It also helped the depression and the paranoia. Is her
doctor aware of these problems? Maybe he can help
