Default More Batteries

I have been using Rayovac batteries (#10) for my Adapto CIC that I
purchase from powerpalace.com. I got a consistant 6 1/2 days of life
from these batteries. In reality, I usually changed the batteries at the
beginning of the sixth day so they would not die midway through the day.

I recently tried Duracells. I purchaed them from Walgreen. They lasted
between 1 minute and 4 days. Most of the ten pack lasted about 3 days.
To be fair, I did write to Duracell and they are sending me more
batteries to try. If the replacements last longer I will let you know.
The expiration on the short-life Duracells was March 2006. The tabs were
falling off when I open the package, so they might have been leaking air
during storage.

I recently tried Renata that I purchased from buyershaven.com. My first
set lasted a little over six days. This is a similar life as the
Rayovacs. The Renata are a little less expensive.

If #10 batteries lasted longer I might not care, but with less than a
one week life, the cost of the cells do add up. If the rest of the
Renatas last as long as the first two, I will probably use them for now.

I just wish I could get seven days of live out of # 10 batteries. It
would be much easier remembering to change batteries every Monday morning.

I use 10's from Radio Shack. They aren't any better or worse than anything
else I use but they are a hell of a lot cheaper when they run their buy 2
get 1 free specials. Get on their mailing list and take advantage of their
battery specials.

I get Renata batteries for 12 for $11 from HearUSA.
I use 13's and they last with my BiCros system two full weeks!

Poke around a little more and I think you'll find even better deals. I got
them (Renata 13's) for about $.40 each in lots of 40. I can't remember
where at the moment & can't find the invoice anywhere. They seem to work
well in my Canta 7's.

=================
They also have ZeniPower, 48 for $17.90 incl. postage. That's $0.37 each.
These #13s last 8 days in my aids. Better brands last 12 days but cost 2 to
3 times as much, depending on where you buy them.

What do people on this group think of the lasting times of 675 size
batteries in BTE aides like Phonak NovoForte E4s? I find Varta lasts around
8 days and are NZD$11.80 a pack of four

Here are typical numbers for standard (not high-output) batteries:

10 = 75mAh
312 = 140mAh
13 = 270mAh
675 = 620mAh

So, a 675 has about 2.3 times the capacity of a 13. For a given current drain,
the 675 will last about 2.3 times as long as the 13. A typical digital aid today
dissipates about 1.2mA. So, a 13 might be good for 225 hours, and a 675 for 517
hours. I haven't seen any digital aids that use the 675.

"High output" batteries have less total capacity than the above, but support
higher average current drain.
