I went to another endocrinologist today. They looked at all my
symptoms and family history and ordered a calcitonin test, a VMA and
a 5H.. I am not sure what it is, but I think they suspect some kind of
pheo, medullary carcinoma or MEN. I dont know. I am glad that they are
asking me to get these tests done, because I am AFRAID that if I go
back to the US without a thorough workup, any problem that is
happening to me will be ignored for another few months or who know-
years. ( My sleep problems with feeling flushed etc., is seriously
hampering functioning, I am just so tired and sleepy all the time)
I dont mind getting the surgery in India, but I'd rather be with my
husband. Second, the post-operative care side of it is not so good. I
dont want to be picking up infections etc., My immune system has still
to adjust to the food in restaurants, you'd think I GREW up in a
sterile lab!
I dont know if any place here does a calcitonin test, I will look
around in other cities here.
Does anybody know if there is a chance to confuse the cytology (?)
features of Papillary and medullary carcinoma ? How easy is it to
differentiate between papillary classical and follicular variant ?
