My cure for IBS-C (diet calcium electrolytes colon potassium)
This is the IBS-C cure that worked for me. It may not work for you,
but there may be gems of helpfulness here for you too.
1. Consider the advice of medical professionals to be nothing more
than guideposts.
2. Monitor your own diet and the effects upon your own condition.
Temporarily (a few months) eliminate foods that irritate your colon
(popcorn, nuts, vegetables, peas, lima beans, soda, diet soda, celery,
broccoli, etc).
3. Drink lots of water. (The colon is a muscle that needs water to
function.)
4. Avoid oral laxatives. Use **** laxatives when necessary. Rotate
the type of laxative you use every 48 hours.
5. Enhance the amount of electrolytes in your vitamin supplements,
calcium, potassium, etc. Overdose these supplements. (Yes,
"overdose".) Notice potassium only comes only in 3% RDA tablets; Take
'em like M&M's.
6. Avoid sugar. Again the colon is a muscular organ, and lots of
sugar goes right to the muscles to do whatever it is you need.
7. Consider using supplemental enzyme capsules (Source Naturals Daily
Essential Enzymes) and probiotic capsules (PB-8 probiotics).
Overdose these too.
8. Consider using a colon cleanse product, like
DualActionCleanse.com. (This product was an active ingredient in my
recovery).
9. Avoid all prescription and over-the-counter medications,
unfortunately including pain killers and cold remedies. (Pain meds
for example deaden the nervous system which controls muscles, like the
colon).
10. Avoid fiber products for IBS-C. They really backed me up good,
and very quickly.
11. Eat fattening, easy-to-digest foods. I enjoyed McDonald's
breakfast menu. Once again, ignore the "political-correctness" of
medical experts and nutritional advice. Eat every meal (if only a
little bit), and avoid fasting. (Someone will flame me for this one.)
12. Avoid alcoholic beverages (less than 1 per day).
13. I drank lots of coffee, but I often wonder if I would have
improved much faster if I had the self-control to give up coffee.
I've heard the coffee has a laxative effect, but I've also heard just
the opposite.
Don't bother flaming me. I won't read your flames. It won't change
the fact that I am almost completely healed using the above advice. I
only gained about 5 pounds too.
