Default my update (phobia)

I saw my good new therapist again yesterday, I spoke to her about the social
phobia some more, and specifically about social phobia related to emails and
such. It was helpful. We talked about self-soothing/self-talking and some
other helpful techniques which were kinda "booster shots" for me, as I've
had these techniques before. Sometimes it is helpful to re-visit them and
get some new thoughts and ideas.

I've been getting out of the house quite a bit. It seems the hardest part
IS getting out of the door, after that it becomes almost a non-entity for
me.

Have had some various "adventures", hehe.

I'm learning, I think, more self-confidence, working on my self-esteem, etc.
I know (and told my therapist) that I have to get my own self-worth from
within. No one else can do that for me. It can be a little tough, but I'm
working on it.

I wish the very best to everyone on whatever goals you are working on, or
problems you are experiencing.

best to all,

bob

Default my update (anxiety down)

Keep up the good work, Bob. Are you on any meds to get your anxiety level
down?

Benzos block PAs and also decrease anticipatory anxiety. (so you can get out
the door easier)

Hi, Bob,
"It seems the hardest part IS getting out of the door" - good old
anticipatory anxiety. Just keep moving past it.
Your post sounds very encouraging. Keep up all of the hard work.
smiles,
Elise

Dear Bob,

It really sounds like you are making progress in leaps and bounds the last
few months. Glad this new therapist is working out so well for you. Are you
going to share some of your adventures with us?
Take care!

Jackie

Glad to hear you are making great progress Bob. It sure helps to re-visit
strategies and reinforce them on a regular basis. Getting out the door is
hard for many of us so well done and wishing you continued success.

Default my update (xanax anxiety clonazepam)

Chip, I'm on 3mg of clonazepam for quite a while now. I have an appt with
my psychiatrist Tue, I may ask him how he feels about xanax xr, the only
thing is it would cost me a little more ($25 instead of $10) (I know some of
you pay a lot more, I'm lucky on this).

The Abilify may help with anxiety, the Effexor probably does too.

thanks,

bob

bob, has the Abilify helped you decrease your cigarette intake as you hoped
it would?

Default my update

<snip>

Chip, I am smoking pipes now, which I don't inhale. I'm surprised I haven't
spoken more about that here, its really nice. I smoke about six
cigarettes/day, mainly I think because I like to drink some things which
don't go well with the pipe tobacco.

I don't drink alcohol (at least, very rarely), but its an interesting (and I
think important) point I've recently heard, that "mixing" smoking with
alcohol creates a (vocabulary failing here) substance 20x more carcinogenic
than nicotine. And I used to drink and smoke furiously together.

In any case, the pipe-smoking is a little less dangerous than cigarettes.
Its very relaxing and more fun too. To answer your question tho, I seem
to amazingly need less nicotine, I can tell you that.

best,

bob
