Vicki,
How long has your setback lasted so far? I'd say that it really depends on a number of factors. One, are you working your program (meds, or cog therapy?) If you've been working your plan and this just cropped up, it could leave as soon as it appeared. I've had setbacks that last one night, I've had others that have lasted weeks or months - the weeks or months period was when I wasn't working my program - no meds, no CBT. You aren't alone, it may feel like it's "game over" or that you've lost it, but you haven't. There are probably contributing factors you aren't completely in tune with at this time. Try making a list of activities (laundry, paint a room of your house, steam clean the carpets, you name it) Make a busy list that will occupy your hands and your mind during this period and your setback just might blow over.
