Default passing sentence! (blindness)

"You will be taken from this place to the place from whence you came and
hence to a place of execution where you will be hanged by the neck until
you be dead. And may the lord have mercy on your soul."

Interesting. No more combat cos it only dredges up the past. No more
engaging in defence cos it only provokes more combat which will only dredge
up the past. Say nothing contentious. Do not object, even to the
objectionable. Pretend not to notice the personal assaults but, if ya do, do
nothing in response for fear of provoking that which is going to continue
happening anyway. Be meek. Be compliant. Support your local trend-setters,
even where that trend has had its feet embedded in concrete for the past
decade. Agree with those not about to go anywhere else. Agree with the
carriers of the biggest stick, for fear of being whacked over the back of
the head with opinions who's authority resides in longevity and an
unchallenged (cos we don't want to dredge up the past, do we)
'respectability' founded in nothing other than its own assumption some time
before the rest of us knew any better.

Be careful with those insights cos, like as not, you will find them
returning to bite you on the bum 8-)

How is it possible to know where ignorance and wisdom overlap even in
ourselves - let alone in the expression of another?

Sometimes the friends we lose as a result of "being ourselves" is indicative
of some broader incompatibility, perhaps unexpected and unsought, perhaps
not?

"Self induced blindness"? Powerful stuff but positively dripping in value
judgment. Now, you are going to say, which of us is not guilty of the
application of our own values when it comes to assessing the character of
another? The answer, of course, answers much more than the question asked
because it raises many more questions regarding the possibility of really
knowing others well enough to be able to identify their foolishness at all.

No offence, but being our own victims is hardly new or novel. No offence,
but enlightenment is subjective to the point of seeming aloof, distant, or
mere arrogance to those not so enlightened or who derive their illumination
from some different source.

Ignorance. Wisdom. These are personal possessions before they are anything
else and today's wisdom is tomorrow's ignorance - and tomorrow's wisdom is
provoked by the ignorance of today.

take care

Debs

Don't do filtering cos I like to watch the gymnastics 8-)

Because, my sweet, because I care. Because I consider being inflexible to be
the consequence of conditioning or a reflection of expediency where such
expedience is heavily invested with the mantle of some illusory permanent
position. Because, Laura, because I can 8-)

Besides, just whom does the demonstration of alternative perspectives really
harm - no really? Ok, apart from those requiring the flooring of belief to
support their tenuous perambulations?

face...and ideas.....

Thank heaven there are few reflecting pools these days in New
York.....

"Moments!"

"Lucidity" is a mutuality, and perhaps the fact that it doesn't seem
constant can be laid elsewhere than at the door of its apparent
source.

Debs is wonderfully and almost *inexcusably* prolix at times. But
whether you realize it or not, you're being tasked. If you don't
understand something, say so. If you don't desire to be tasked, don't
reply or something. But don't think that these threads or this
context is sufficient basis for such casual judgements.

If you love words, you'll love Debs. (I do!)

Otherwise you'd best just admire her from afar. o'K?" typed, rather
*too* sweetly.

The answer might be, "You don't know, therefore you *can't* know." In
some cases for some question, LD, that's true.

Can you even accept *that* much?

Contempt for self-love can be a cry for attention, itself. Not mine, though.

Narcissus was such a *pretty* boy. Why don't you tell the whole
story? I haven't heard it in awhile...

Shhh! People will think that I have a fan - which is not a good thing to be
around here for some reason which appears to escape me at the moment 8-)

eek. I sent too fast, paying too much attention to the spaces between
words (and punctuation) and not enough to the construction of meaning
with a given context. Thank you for alerting me.

Which is why you will never get beyond being part of the crew that keeps the
trolls and ****wits well fed. Really... if you want a place where
alternatives and concepts can be discussed openly and without fear of a
****wit style reprisal, you have to stop feeding these idiots, let them wander
off to better feeding grounds elsewhere.

How does one get the skunks out of one's backyard?
Not by feeding them, that's for sure!

Y'know what... you care about the wrong thing. ****wit, ****nuts and their
ilk are beyond repair, lost forever to the miasma of their own self-created
hell... you ain't gonna save even one of them no matter how hard you try. Your
present path simply has you beating your head against a brick wall... and how
can you possibly qualify self-immolation as "caring"?

Caring is also a practical undertaking, hon. Every minute you spend arguing
with the spiritually bankrupt is a minute you could have used to share
information or to learn something new. Don't spend your life caring about
people who will just piss on your lawn, spend your time on the people who WANT
to discuss and learn. You've got a lot to share, Debs, yet you insist upon
wasting your time on the functional equivalent of trying to impress a rock.

No... because your pride is hooked. You've become enslaved to your own basic
need to be heard, to be understood and to be liked. You want them to hear
your words and you're gonna bloody keep at it until they listen! You've
become little more than a feeder subroutine for their hatred.

Break free of it, put your efforts into writing a FAQ or a few essays for
newbies... hell, write your book! You will help more people with one truly
informative missive than you ever will by messing about with trolls. It's a
horrible waste of talent.

And yes, it took me 10 years to figure that out! I used to justify the
activity saying "But others will read my good words"... but the truth is they
don't, they don't know us from the trolls and we end up in the same bozo bins
as the fools we are trying to reach. It's nothing but a horrible waste of good intent...

Exactly... provide those alternatives, PLEASE provide those alternatives...
but do it without constantly degrading your value as a mentor by letting these
jackasses **** you into conversations that do nothing better than make you
look as bad a troll as them.

Sad truth: Responding to a troll is trolling! It's exactly what they want,
it keeps them motivated and it reduces these newsgroups to a state of complete
uselessness... how can you call it anything else?

There's a certain irony to hear you ask this question. You are easily one
of the most inflexible persons I've never met.
