Default Peeing too much (stress xanax anxiety exercise)

I am 30, and since I was a teenager (since my anxiety kicked in real bad) I
wake up at least twice to go pee at night. I am physically healthy as far as I
know (regular exercise, eat well etc). I have a feeling it's associated with
stress, because when I have a particular situation provoking excessive
fear/anxiety I go on peeing so much I would almost get dehydrated. And also, on
the odd nights when I take a xanax, I can sleep uninterrupted all night. Does
anyone have any knowledge about this? Any increased activity of a gland due to
anxiety? Anyone experienced such annoying thing?

Default Peeing too much (apnea)

I once read that many people wake up at night, and just attribute it to
having to go, therefore do. These were people who had undiagnosed sleep
apnea.. I think as anxious folks, we tend to be light sleepers at best
therefore wake up frequently.

Other factors to frequent urnination are medications, Urinary tract
infections, Vitamins (b6 causes flushing to occur in higher doses), and
sleep disorders.

I would chat with your doc about it, so he can rule out any physical issues.

Good Luck

Default Peeing too much (anxiety)

Once I get anxious, even if I just relieved myself, I always feel like I
have to pee. I have a few books on anxiety and in them it says that that is
a symptom. Mine is a little different because I don't have to go much at
night, while I'm sleeping, at least on every night, but definitely when
something suddenly provokes my anxiety. Right before I went on a plane last
summer I ran to the bathroom every 20 minutes to either throw up or pee...
I was really dehydrated.

Default Peeing too much (stress xanax panic anxiety bladder)

Hi Franco,

Another reason someone might pee more than usual at night is high blood
sugar. Diabetes is notorious for making the bladder work overtime. NO
panic... just have a simple blood test to see what your blood gloucose has
been up to. Get a fasting blood sugar test and an A1C. The A1C will tell
you how your BG has been acting the last 3 months.

I get up frequently at night as well. While I am not out of control
Diabetic, I do have above normal blood sugar... but other things for me can
be the reason.. but they tend to be things that only females get.

It could be nothing but anxiety or being as you are up.. your brain just
tells you its time to "go" ... but you might as well check all possiblities

Take Care

Default Peeing too much (insomnia)

Hey Franco,

I get this too. I'm up at least 2 times a night urinating. It's been that
way for years. So not only do I have insomnia, I can't stay asleep once I get
there, because I have to pee, and furthermore, I wake up around 4 am in the
morning, wide awake, regardless of how little I have slept. But yes, I get the
frequent urination at night. I also have noticed that whenever I take a nap,
the first thing I have to do when I wake up is urinate. I've kind of developed
a theory that the act of sleeping causes production of urine somehow. LOL.
That may be a strange theory, but it seems to be the case in my situration.

Default Peeing too much (anxiety)

Thanks all for replies. I was having regular checkups, with blood
sugar and other parameters monitered, yet nothing out of the ordinary
showed up (meanwhile I kept having this night urination problem). It
seems associated principally with anxiety (like suggested by yous
guys) but anyway I think I'll go see a physician about it. For some
reason I have misgivings about going to see physicians (maybe that has
to do with being a med school dropout myself; and/or some disppointing
experiences with some shrinks). Anyway the med health system in Europe
(where I live) isn't that great imo. They make you go to like 10
appointments (and you'd have to book like 2 months in advance, as if I
have the patience for that) and rarely prescribe anything useful to
you (if anything at all)... I don't know if they're paranoid or just
inefficient.

Default Peeing too much (stress anxiety)

Hi Sara,
That theory of yours seems true at least in the case of a big fraction
people who suffer from anxiety disorder. Maybe with the help of some
scientists we could set up clinical trials and stuff (and do some
research on those glands that sit above the kidneys and secrete nasty
shit, what was it called again, the adenocortical gland?). Come to
think of it again, I don't have the patience for such complicated
work, too much stress involved
