Default PVP +80 Days (shy acupuncture urinary prostate)

I'm just shy of 3 months post PVP and I'm not surprised to read about other
PVP patients not experiencing the almost immediate recovery that Laserscope
ballyhoos about in their promotions.
As one urologist put it: "Prostate surgery is still prostate surgery, and it
can take 3 months
to recover fully...perhaps more, depending on the individual."

I've already experienced acute urinary retention and had to be taken to the
emergency room and be re-catheterized the day after surgery. Just up to 2
months post PVP, I was miserable with urgency, frequency, and intense pain
at the end of the stream. Finally, acupuncture and homeopathic sulfur has,
almost overnight, reduced the symptoms by half. I'm able to function pretty
well now...with good streams, especially at night and early morning.

I still have a way to go but my experience is nothing like the ridiculous,
fraudulent scenario that Laserscope presents to its potential clients. I am
furious with them and the whole medical-marketing business.
There's no place for their kind of misleading promotions stating
such overly optimistic claims like: "After the procedure you may have some
mild discomfort such as slight burning during urination for about a week or
so." And: "Some men may experience more severe symptoms, which can be easily
treated by your doctor."

Maybe this is true for many patients. But there is, and will be a
significant number of patients who will have to deal with more acute
symptoms, and over a much longer recovery time then Lasescope suggests. Many
of these symptoms are not "easily treated by your doctor."

If Laserscope had been more honest and prepared its patients and surgeons
more realistically, it could be less of a difficult time psychologically,
for the folks who don't just go home the same day whistling dixie. This
shouldn't be underestimated
because when one is not prepared for a prolonged recovery, it is easy to
start believing that you
never will get any better, and that can be quite devastating.

PVP is not necessarily the 'up, out and away' experience that Laserscope
implies it will be.

True. But it WAS for me and I do not own a single Laserscope
share!

Had PVP on the Wednesday and was back cleaning kennels, and
other usual duties, on Saturday of the same week.

Sorry it did not work out for you; but then a percentage die
under general anaesthetic and you won't find them posting
positive reports here.

I would suggest that those experiencing the alternative (The
Bloody TURP) are not so wildly enthusiastic about the experience
that they post their recommendations either.

Say what's your relationship to Laserscope? I gotta wonder.....why is it so
difficult for you to accept, without making snide quips, that the procedure

miss the point again. What I'm saying is that the recovery time is
intentionally misrepresented by the company. Not surprising, considering the
huge returns they are showing.

I for one will say that I have experienced what you , and your
mentor, describe as "The Bloody Turp" ,

AND I can testify, from personal experience, that it is nothing
like the nonsensical description which you, and your crowd,
describe.

So, to respond to your question :-

' I AM WILDLY ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT MY TURP EXPERIENCE"

It is the safest and most effective treatment of BPH which medical
science has been able to perfect over the last 70 years.

This is the reason, and the only reason, why it has earned the title
of being " The Gold Standard". Very few other surgical procedures
have earned such a title.

YOU are a psychological cripple , and can therfore be f****ven your
problems, but your transatlantic mentor is a very obvious schill..

I hope that your improvement continues and that the intense radiation
which you have received does not induce any problems.

Default PVP +80 Days (bladder prostate)

A persons outcome after PVP depends on the experience and proficiency
of the doctor and the patients individual needs. Everyone's prostate
differs in size and the type of blockage. Some have bladder neck
problems and some don't, which can complicate the surgery. Let's face
it, some doctors have better outcomes than others. One persons
success or failure does not validate or invalidate the procedure.

My own case (as others I have read) does not support that.
(Anyway, they don't claim that *all* patients will have the best
result - they say "Most", don't they?)

In fact I didn't really pay much attention to to Laserscope's claims.
I never rely on manufacturers' claims for anything - I try to read
independent reviews. So I followed the reports from members of this
newsgroup, for many months, before deciding to go for PVP.
Because there is always a risk with surgery, I was prepared for a
result that might be disappointing, whilst hoping for the best, of
course.
In my case - as I reported earlier here - the speed of recovery was
incredibly fast. 24 hours after the op I was on the train home, and
the next day I played snooker for 1.5 hours - I felt so, well, normal.
Urine was running clear after 25 hours (though there was a slight
hiccup last week, as I reported - but that has now cleared).
Did my first 8-mile walk yesterday, with no after effects.

As an operation it was really a breeze, much to my surprise after
being ready for significant discomfort.
Apart from the first hour after coming round I experienced no pain or

even discomfort, although that was probably largely due to good
medication.

However, although recovery was fast, the jury is still out on the
outcome, and although there is now no hesitation in starting, the flow
is still disappointing. But I understand it can take a few weeks for
the full benefit to be obtained.

By the way, last year I went to a talk on TURP by a local leading
urologist. He mentioned *none* of the possible side effects, and
swiftly changed the subject during question time when I asked him
about them!

I think your attack on Derry was quite out of order and unwarranted,
and I hope you will be consider apologising to him.

I - and am sure everyone else in here - am genuinely sorry that your
outcome has so far not been very good, and hope that things will
improve.
You have made your point, and we understand your anger and
disappointment, but it will help no one to lash out at members of this
group like that.

I have no connection whatsoever with Laserscope or indeed any other
medical or health company.

I think you have just been unlucky and maybe you expected to do too much too
soon or like me you have some other ill health problem that complicates the
healing time

I am delighted with PVP even though I had pulling stinging after voiding for
5 months
