I'm on Remeron (well its called Avanza in Australia :P). I was switched
from Luvox due to increasing anxiety levels. I've been on it for almost a
year now and the pros and cons listed below are just my experience with it
Pros:
* My depression has lifted in so much now that I can pretty much function
on a day to day level. Some days are awful still though..but I think thats
more to do with life as well

.
* Similar to above, I feel more like my old self, and not so numb. I have
emotions

* Due to its sedating effects, it helps me go to sleep.
* I've got my *** drive back. It wasn't until I switched from the SSRI's
(I'd been on ciprimil, prozac, zoloft and luvox at varying times), that I
realised how much they dulled it. To me, its not that important..but its a
plus
Cons:
* Weight gain, I've had a moderate gain (5kg), but alot of people have had
more, and have had difficulty getting it off. (I'm okay as long as I watch
what I eat and exercise - which I've been slack doing lately

)
* It did nothing for my anxiety (maybe increased it even?). I'm on valium
for that now though..which helps.
* Sedative effects - when I first took it (half a tablet), I wound up
sleeping for like 20 hours. As my body adjusted to it, effects have worn
off a bit.
I have read that remeron/avanza is a good all around tablet for
depression/anxiety, but I think it does depend on the individual. I
definately think its worth a try..especially if you have reacted to SSRI's
badly.
