Default Residual (permanent?) herpes symptoms? (bladder herpes down)

Hello,

Well, it has been nearly a year since my infection with genital herpes
(probably HSV1). At the time I had a whole cluster of symptoms which
DID NOT include blisters and sores. However two blood tests have
confirmed that I've got the herp and the second test, probably the
more accurate one, strongly indicates HSV1 infection.

There are two symptoms that have not gone away and I'm wondering if
I'll always have them. These are:

1) I always feel like my right foot is stepping on something. When I
first became infected I would feel jabs of pain from my inner right
thigh down to my foot. At one point I even limped for about a week.
Now the only symptom is this constant, non-painful feeling that I'm
stepping on something.

2) If I strongly need to urinate there is this burning feeling in my
bladder. Like my foot sensation above it is not a painful feeling.
It is just noticeable. When I urinate I also feel a burning feeling
in my urethra but it is not strong and discomforting like it was when
this all began nearly a year ago.

There are a couple of other symptoms I could mention but they are sort
of b**** and so I won't describe them.

Is it common for herpes infected people to have persistent symptoms
like the two that I've described above? These symptoms don't ebb and
flow... they are ALWAYS present.

Thanks!

Christopher

Default Residual (permanent?) herpes symptoms? (spermicides urinary condoms stress)

I have the foot thing too, but only very intermittently. It comes and goes
and seems to be affected by caffeine use and stress.

As a woman, I've found that almost all urinary burning is related to urinary
tract infections or sensitivity to condoms and spermicides. You are not a
woman, so my experience is probably moot. If somehow you have a tendency
towards urinary tract infections, I can say from my own personal experience,
for me, there is nothing better than regularly munching on dried
cranberries -- they come under brand names such as craisins or cape cod
cranberries or something. They're a little pricey, but much less expensive
than cranberry juice, much more effective, and much tastier.

I think with time the foot thing might go away. Have you tried reducing
caffeine? Do take antivirals? I'm not sure that there is any such thing as
"normal" herp symptoms: everybody varies widely. Sorry can't be of more
help.

Chris,

I don't believe it's common for herpes infected people to have the symptoms
that you have described. Since everybody is different ... I could very well
be wrong.

You might want to see a specialist to figure out what's going on.
Keep us posted, ok?

Hang In There,

~Angela
