Will have to do fasting test(?).

A fasting test is where you eat nothing after 10pm and you have your bloods
taken early the next morning (usually around 9am) It gives them a better
idea of what is happening with your blood sugars.

That's a glucose tolerance test not just a fasting test which is what the OP
was told he might need.

I'm not on carbemezapine - but my blood pressure is higher than that:
120/98, I think, last time it was checked.

Various blood-tests are common for people who take medications for long
periods, I think - I'm supposed to get them every year, at least. The
worst part about a 'fasting' blood test is not being able to eat or drink
for 12 hours.

That's probably why 'they' prefer to do th test in the morning - so that
with any luck, you'll have been asleep for a big chunk of the 12 hours, so
you won't have been 'tempted'.
