Sebotek alert... (aids)
When amplitude (volume, power) slowly fades, it can get pretty low before it
becomes evident to the user. At least in my case... This morning I noticed
that my one working ear was simply not doing its job. I immediately assumed
it was ME, and planned to hook up the HiPro to boost gain even further.
First, however, I installed a new battery, even though in digital aids the
battery either works or doesn't - there's no slow fading away. I then
examined the receiver (the part that fits in the ear c****), and found the
soft elastic sleeve to be filled with cerumen (wax). The level of the wax
was well inside the sleeve and not immediately visible until I pulled it all
apart. I also found some hard encrusted cerumen right on the face of the
receiver - sort of like sticking putty to the front of your loudspeaker.
Once cleaned out, voila! Loud and clear.
So, if you're using the Sebotek and find power fading away, take it to your
audiologist for a cleaning.
