Default shrink/eliminate polyps w/o surgery? (diet hypoallergenic nasonex sinusitis prednisone)

hi -
i've had godawful sinusitis for the past 4 months & was told last wk by an
ENT guy that i had polyps. he of course immediately recommended either
surgery or a gigantic blast of antibiotics or prednisone.
terrified of all 3 options; i can't tolerate most meds & after reading so
many online horror stories about the futile - if not dangerous - attempts
at surgical relief, i'm wondering if anyone's had success with polyps
shrinking by nonsurgical means?
at the mo am giving nasonex a go - day3 - even though it's making me feel
completely bloody nauseated, spacey & irritable. was told the side effects
may go away? hmmmmm.
i guess a 'hypoallergenic' diet wouldn't do the trick? homeopathic
remedies? just hoping to find a less invasive solution, if at all
possible, before considering surgery, or whatever else.
ok, thanks

You can only prevent or tame small polyps with NasalCrom.
Once you have them as big as i guess yours have becom, you need to get them
lopped off. Find a Doc that will do it in his
office if possible, as long as you are of average age
and have no health problems. I have had as many as 4 a year done
in the chair. Now i am too aged and have delicate health, so
must go to the operating room.

A digestion upset or "getting into something" will set you up:
Your polyps will always come back, so you should consider this:

The first thing i must say is donot use Amphotericin B except as a nasal
spray, because it can
and has caused heart attack.
Here are all the things you need to know::

Here is some latest coming out of the Mayo Clinic:

“Killing Fungi”

A neat statement to remember:
“Amphotericin B
The studies from the Mayo Clinic found that nasal lavage/wash with
Amphotericin B is much more effective than oral amphotericin B, with
virtually none of the side effects”
`````````````````````````````````````````````````` `````````````````````````````````````````````````` `
Most fungi simply colonise the sinuses and sit there without causing any
Occasionally the fungi may invade the mucous membranes and provoke intense
and allergic response. Even more rarely the fungi may invade the bones of
the facial skeleton
and damage blood vessels and nerves, even extending to the eye and brain
at the Mayo Clinic found fungi in 96 percent of people with chronic
One therapy for the Amphotericin B deoxycholate, nose spray is:
3 months;
5 squirts each nostral;
2 times aday;
Another Possible Procedure, however using ONLY the 10-squirts worth, and
only done twice
aday, and remembering this MUST NOT be swallowed;
The Sinus Flooding Procedure:
a. Lay on a bed face up with the head hanging over the edge of the mattress
so the nostrils are
pointing straight up toward the ceiling.
b. Use an eye dropper to fill each nostril with the rinse solution. Keep
filling each nostril until
the rinse solution starts to drip in the throat. Remain in the same position
for 2 to 3 minutes.
c. Roll over on the stomach and let the head flop forward over the edge of
the mattress. Remain
in that position for 2 to 3 minutes then sit up and let the rinse drain out
through the nose.
d. Important: Repeat this procedure 45 minutes later. The two rinses 45 minutes
apart constitute
a single rinse session. Perform two or more such rinse sessions per day.
Relief will typically be
noticeable by the second day. It is not unusual for the sinus infection to
be gone within three
e. Repeat two sessions per day until the infection subsides. Very persistent
infections may
require five to seven day or more.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````` `````````````````````````````````````````````````` ````````````````
Amphotericin B deoxycholate nasal spray/wash is shipped in a cold pack and
must be kept
refrigerated. Only a one month's supply at a time is available, because it
is so perishable,
however i finally found a "Dixie" Mayo Clinic near me and am now using the
"wash", not
"drops", and is $50.00 cheaper than the above-mentioned drugstore.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````` `````````````````````````````````````````````````` `````````
Here are interesting statements i saw while rushing through the Internet.
It is nice to know if you
absolutely must put your life at risk with Amphotericin B, you can quickly
get off of it :
“Surgical treatment is mandatory. Initiate medical treatment with systemic
antifungals once
invasion is diagnosed. Amphotericin B (2 g/d) is recommended; this can be
replaced by
ketoconazole or itraconazole once the disease is under control”.
“Acute invasive fungal sinusitis
Emergent treatment is necessary once this condition is suspected. Initiate
systemic antifungal
treatment after surgical debridement. High doses of amphotericin B (1-1.5
mg/kg/d) are
recommended. Oral itraconazole (400 mg/d) can replace amphotericin B once
the acute stage
has passed. Treatment of the underlying immune deficiency, if possible, is
Default shrink/eliminate polyps w/o surgery? (diet allergies hypoallergenic allergic nasal polyps)
Steroids can sometimes shrink nasal polyps. But if you're having
difficulty tolerating even steroid nasal sprays, then you might have
real trouble with oral steroids. See if the Nasonex works first.
If you have allergies, then relieving them might reduce the inflammation
and enable the steroids to work better.
But don't waste your money and time on a "hypoallergenic" diet unless
you know you are allergic to particular foods. See an allergist and he
can evaluate you for allergies to inhalants and foods.
Homeopathy is quackery--don't rely on it to cure any condition.
BTW, if you go for surgery, the physician may need to put you on
post-operative antibiotics anyway--to prevent a post-operative infection.
<< Homeopathy is quackery--don't rely on it to cure any condition. >>
I contracted a hospital resistant infection in a hospital emergency room.
None of the prescribed antibiotics worked. After several years of
frustration, I tried two homeopathic antibiotics. The second one worked and
cured me of that infection.
There should be no side effects of that nature from Nasonex.
Are you sure it's not something else you may be taking?
I wouldn't go overboard on the dosage, just to avoid irritating the nose. I
find one squirt a day into each nostril is enough for me, although two is
usually recommended.
Default shrink/eliminate polyps w/o surgery? (nasonex)
thanks everyone; really appreciate the feedback .....
and to don - other than the nasonex, am not taking so much as a tic tac,
so i know the side effects are from the N. it couldn't be anything else
i'm wildly 'sensitive' to everything i ingest & that includes food; more
than 2 cups of coffee a day and i may as well have just drunk an extra
large peyote milkshake.
Default shrink/eliminate polyps w/o surgery? (prednisone nasal)
Antibiotics combined with prednisone are a standard of treatment for nasal
polyps, to shrink them and hopefully restore breatheing and sense of smell.
The pain / pressure is due to the pressure they exert which can thin the bones
of the sinuses - permanently and keeping the infection that their obstruction
causes can make you quite ill.
