Can someone tell me the quickest and best fix for basic and simple clinical
depression for a guy? IS St. Johns wort any good? As recently I heard that
they did scientific studies which concluded that it was not doing anything
more than sugar pills.

Depression seems to just be able to hit you without any warning, and can
come from nowhere. It is a strange affliction. Its difficult enough to
understand it, let alone cure it or treat it?

Thanks very much for your thoughts, it seems from reading a few posts that
people are really genuine and give support to each other on this forum,
thats so nice to see such genuine people with genuine concerns for each
other.

You've got a good point Scott, but you know to just go to a "therapist" is
no small task, it is a serious and deep question of finding the right and
most suitable person, matching up the type of therapy and personally
matching up the right person. The mind is such a delecate and sensitive
things, doctors can muck up people at the best of times, and they know even
less about the mind. So although therapy is good, lets be frank, there are
people going around calling themselves therapists who have done a three week
course on the internet!
My point is only to say that the task of getting the correct therapy can be
herculean in itself. Proper therapy can take as much out of you as it can
out of the therapist. so I understand.

There are NHS 'therapists' - and even if there are none in your area, your
GP should be able to advise you about the reputable ones. I don't
recommend trying to find one from the phone book!
Getting to the root of a problem, and working out how to cope with it, is
very hard work sometimes.
