It's nothing to do with morals. You get treated the way you treat others.
Cause and effect.

I get manipulated by them so if I were smart, I would start to fight
back with the same weapons.

Not necessarily. I never tho't about it before, really. But I could
certainly easily put myself in the position of Meryl's character: I
could plainly see why she loved him. Maybe it's 'cause she's so
brilliant; maybe it's 'cause he's so brilliant. Likely, it's due to
them both. There was something pitiful, sweet, and intruiging about
the character he portrayed in that film.

Never thought about that befire! Interesting...

Default Sobering! (exercise job)

There are those few actors that just do it for you looks wise. And then
there are those that do it for you but in a completely different way.
They just touch something inside.

It is hard. She had it bad for him. Sometimes one finds one loving
someone whom others don't or cannot understand. As if that makes it any
less real.

To some she might have appeared to waste her life on him.

She seems to find parts, [or they find her] that are off beat and out of
the usual. I respect that. It's a hard job and someone has to do it. She
is good at it too.

They both appear to have depth.

Yes. Exactly. I think more actors could do with a dose of that every
once in a while.

Do you have any other actors/actresses that you enjoy?

What other kinds of movies do you like?

BrendaLee

ps
It is a shame when they get locked into a certain type of role. Severely
limiting... and never allows you to see just how versatile they are.

Too bad. I was hoping you had gotten to the part about thoughts being
creative.

Manipulation is a grey area imo.
I don't mind being manipulated - my partner has full permission to
manipulate me as he deems fit.
But I know the rules.
Most girls don't.
Or at most they only 'get' them on an unconscious level.

And the other condition is that I mustn't find him out.

***
In case you're wondering, here's an example.
In the past, when I got moody he would continually
come to me and say "What's wrong, sweetie? What's
wrong?"
Which would only alienate me further.
My continued moodiness would elicit another round of "What's
wrong, sweetie? What's wrong?"
etc.
etc.

So I explained.
Now he leaves me til I bounce back when I'm ready.
And when I notice his life isn't on hold while I sulk.
"Wait for meeeeee!"

Ah, well, that's just a judgemental person, wouldn't you say? And we
KNOW how to deal with them: they can talk to the hand!

His passing, in the film, had to be a relief for her on some
subconscious level. She's freer now. And so, of course, is he.
(Lookit me talkin' 'bout them like they're real characters, eh?! Such
vividly real characters.)

Were you totally flabbergasted to learn just who Julianne Moore's
character truly was?! O, I want to see the film again just so I can
focus on the nuances involved in that!!!

It was interesting that even tho' the stories seemed to be completely
unrelated, I was satisfied to simply sit back & enjoy them. They were that engaging!

I agree. I've studied the craft, and was taught that acting is about
behaving honestly under false cir***stances (Meisner). But with
emotions, we can't simply turn them off & on like a lightswitch, can
we? (I certainly can't.) You peel the skin off, and you slooooowly
pull it back on again when the time comes (in my experience). Can't
be easy to live w/ and love someone who does this professionally, eh?

Hm, the actor who has thus far gotten under my skin the most was River
Phoenix. He could make me cry so easily! And I love a good cry.

I'm all about the romantic comedies & the dramas. I'm glad the film
going audiences seem to be demanding STORIES with their films, rather
than just visual stuff (like current summertime fare of Charlie's
Angels, Tomb Raider, Bad Boys 2, etc. which have or are expected to
perform poorly at the box office).

Hm...I'm also Matrix geek 'cause it's all spiritual...

Lovely talking filmspeak with you! What are your cinematic preferences, B.?

Are you thinking of someone in particular?

That's true. Things come from the left field all the time. It's never
what one expects. One has to be open to - anything. And then one gets
the most incredible things in the world.
