softening of Focus Night & Day (lens)
In the archives of this newsgroup I remember reading about how using a
peroxide cleaning solution on Focus Night & Day can cause the lens to
soften. I used my first pair of N&D's for a week with Clear Care
(peroxide-based) and didn't pay much attention to whether they were
becoming softer, but now I am on my second pair and am using a
non-peroxide cleaner (Complete Moisture Plus, a no-rub multipurpose
solution). I've noticed that my lenses seem more difficult to grab
and squeeze out of my eyes the first two days that I've worn them so
far, and I wonder if it is because they are stiffer. In contrast, the
easiest lenses to remove that I've ever worn have been Acuvues, which
were extremely thin and floppy.
My question is, is it a good or a bad thing for these lenses to become
softer? I am thinking that the reason why they are supposed to have
such good optics is because they are so stiff. If that is true, then
perhaps a peroxide solution is not ideal to use on this lens, from
that perspective?
