I'm probably being impatient, I've only been on Synthroid (50) for 3 months
and we are still upping my dose. But, it seems like my thyroid gland is
getting bigger instead of smaller. Since yesterday it has felt weird to
swallow, like I have a golf ball on the side in my throat.

I had blood drawn today and have a Dr. appt. on Thurs. He said if Thyroid
had not gone down since last blood draw, he would send me for a CAT scan.

Can the thyroid gland actually get "bigger" while on meds or am I imagining
it?

Yes, it can enlarge while on treatment. 50 mcg/day is about a third of what
your body needs, so your thyroid is still trying to push stuff out. To
suppress the thyroid and its growth, your doctor will have to up the dose
quite a bit.

Thanks! My GP is treating me and he is being "very" cautious. I had a
negative experience with my first and only trip to an Endo. and he is
willing to treat me until I can find a new Endo. on my insurance plan.
