Default To Robert--Thank You for post re Dr. Lerner (stress acyclovir)

Dear Robert,
I believe you, am happy for you, and on New Year's Eve, am grateful for every
success story I hear. My physician, who is an infectious disease specialist,
well informed re Dr. Lerner's research. Five years ago I had a cardio workup
at one of the best units in the country. She wanted me to have the tilt table
done properly. My EKG, echo, stress test, and tilt table were excellent.
When I
brought up Dr. Lerner's research on my recent visit, she asked me if I wanted
tests done again and said there was an improved stress test available. I
said no, but have changed my mind and will have them done in '04. When I was
first dx she prescribed acyclovir totally empirically, but I couldn't
tolerate it.
She would probably prescribe valcyte, etc. off label unless she felt a serious
known risk.
Question: If Dr. Lerner doesn't find the irregularities you described does
he still
prescribe antivirals? And please accept my thanks for posting even though you
are doing so well. It is human nature to leave unpleasantness behind. If more
recovered CFS patients posted I am sure we could all learn more. May you
to do well and please keep posting. Happy New Year!!!
