Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still here lurking, but it's been
a very busy month already.

DS went to the dr in grandma's town last tuesday. The dr. there diagnosed
him with pharyngitis. Well, today (sunday) he was not doing better and in
fact was getting a bit worse in spite of the anti-biotics. I took him back
to the dr here in our town and he was diagnosed with pneumonia and croup.
He's on prednisone and zithromax.

I think he caught all of this while traveling. We left our home on December
9th and returned December 19th. We left suddenly, due to my father passing
away in the early morning of the 9th. He had been very ill for a very long
time. It started back in 1991 with an aortic aneurism. He then developed
severe emphysema and congestive heart failure among a long list of other
things. He was on oxygen 24 hours a day for the last 10 years. As of late,
he was having a lot of trouble getting around, his mind wasn't working well
and he just didn't feel good. He was admitted to the hopsital on December
4th for pneumonia. They sent him home on Monday the 8th. He went back to
the ER at 8:20pm on the 8th and coded at 12:14am on the 9th. He is at rest,
with no pain now and I am happy for that, but it's hard to believe that my
daddy (even though we didn't always get along) is gone.

DS did great at the viewing and funeral service. He just wanted to sit with
grandpa the whole time and that was a hard thing to explain/discourage. He
doesn't understand death yet, as he is only 2.7 years old, but he know that
grandpa wasn't at his house like usually was. My mom is handling things
well and is living with us now.

We will be traveling back to SLC, UT January 8th to finish settling dad's
affairs, sell their house and move her to WA.

Prayers/positive thoughts and vibes would be appreciated. On top of all of
this, DH and I are trying to buy a house and the closing date keeps getting
moved back or problems arise just before we are told we can close.
Hopefully all will go well and we'll close tomorrow.

Hopefully DS will soon be well, it sounds like he's a sensitive boy to want
to sit with Grandpa.

My condolences on the loss of yojur father. You do have the comfort that he
is out of pain now. (Cold Comfort that it is). I wish I had the words to
express my sympathies and desire to lessen your burden at this most
difficult time!

I hope that you DS gets past his illness and that as the sun returns to the
planet (today is winter solstice..so the days will get longer from here).
May the unhappiness of this winter fade into memory and joy return to your
life!
