We had a rough night!
The changes you are making are great! Aside from the cleanliness
issue, those bathroom rugs can be more trouble than they're worth:
they can be a falling hazard. (You might want to think about those
blue pads on the floor in the same way.)
As for the diaper-removing problem, check the fit of the diaper. We
had a vaguely similar problem. My mom went after her Depends - with
scissors! - in an attempt to cut them off of herself. As it turns
out, the fault was mine: I had bought a different absorbency than she
was used to. The additional thickness was just enough to throw her
off.
While you may not have changed anything, if she was lost/gained
weight, or has any chafing, she may just be uncomfortable. Also, it
may be time to just change the style you are using. Unfortunately,
what works one day just may not work the next.
We've had pretty good luck with the briefs -- the ones that look like
"real" *******. Mom was more accepting that they were just a new kind
of underwear. They may be harder for her to take off, too. The
"cons" are that they are harder for the wearer to pull up (especially
as the ability to coordinate the tasks of pulling them up front and
back begins to wane.) Additionally, they are harder for you, the
caretaker, since they are like real underwear and have to be put on
with some amount of cooperation.
Good luck - hope you are getting some sleep!
