There are many causes of depression. Most people do not know when their
depression started. It's as if they were depressed their whole lives. For others it was the result of a tragedy, traumatic event or injury. For those who are unsure what caused their depression, knowing, and doing what can be done about it can help a great deal and possibly make it possible to recover on one's own. People typically do not get the nutrients they need. Most people do not take multivitamins and they've never been told about the importance of the right kinds of fats. I'm sure that caught more than a few of you off guard. Yes, I said fats. Did you know that your brain is 60% fat? That's right. And if you've ever heard of neurotransmitters then you probably know how important they are. Well, they move IN FAT. YES! The wrong kind of fat is like trying to swim in syrup. The fat neurotransmitters need to function properly are Omega-3 and 6s which are found primarily in fish, and to a lesser degree in nuts (mixed with Omega-9s and 12s which are not as good for you) The worst fats are solid at room temperature and include saturated fats and trans fats. If oil is heated it will turn into trans fat so obviously fried foods are bad for your brain, hence neurotransmitters, hence your emotional health. Fish oil capsules are cheap and will make you feel significantly better in 3-4 weeks at a dosage of three 1g capsules twice a day. If you believe you've been depressed your whole life then you've probably grown up in a dysfunctional family. Most people have. Some people cope with that better than others, some just hide it better. I sincerely hope that everyone will choose to read "Healing the Shame that Binds You" by John Bradshaw. It discusses how we are taught to feel ashamed even before our first known memory so that we build defenses to hide it before we even know that it exists, and then the shame, that we don't know is there, causes us problems our whole life. If you want to get better, and anyone who's depressed usually say they do, please take those two simple steps. -- Jim Scannell jscannell@wi.rr.com http://home.wi.rr.com/jscannell/ Gratitude hence Happiness, Faith hence Hope, Selfishness is anti-Love, Devotion is the Key |

Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement. You do need to read more of
what I write but don't hope that I'll respond to much of your disagreements. -- Jim Scannell jscannell@wi.rr.com http://home.wi.rr.com/jscannell/ Gratitude hence Happiness, Faith hence Hope, Selfishness is anti-Love, Devotion is the Key |
