Were you living near Columbia? My FIL and step MIL lived on Riverside
Drive for many years.


I have to disagee with you on this. I went to public school in Brooklyn,
one of the 5 boros of NYC and got an excellant education and I know of
many others who did the same. I did public school in a K-8 school and
then went on to Midwood High School. It might be that the public schools
in your neighborhood weren't great, but there were many excellent public
schools in NYC at that time. Just want to add that I have some good
friends who went to public school in Manhatten around the same time.
