Un-freaking-believable. A quick Google search shows just what a
bizarre and extreme fellow Masson is. As Prendergast points out,
anybody with any sense would simply discount what Masson says or
writes. Do you know if he has been struck off for professional
misconduct recently?

And more relevantly, just how much influence does Masson have on New
Zealand psychiatrists? Certainly Auckland University Professor John
Read, that clumsy but persistent opponent of Linley Hood, seems to
think in accordance with the lunacy espoused by Masson.

You are doing yourself a disservice by not reading the whole thing. I
would like to know the background as well, but the letter is extremely
well written and I agree with most of his positions (excluding the
personal stuff that I have no background on).
