Default Clozapine / Clozaril

Hi,

Is there anybody on this list who takes Clozapine / Clozaril ? I'd
like to know your experiences with it.

I'm still getting symptoms (voices, visions, flashbacks) and my
consultant psychiatrist wants to put me on Clozapine. I'm on
amisulpride at the moment and I'm also getting side effects from it
(stiff back from being heavily sedated at night, slow movement,
sedation).

I'm not so keen on it because it needs blood tests once a week for a
while (18 weeks IIRC on the NHS) and at further intervals later on.
Don't like needles at all.

Ian

Why is Clozapine the choice of your psychiatrist? There are other Antipsychotics.

where are you in Britian? Seems there are more new ones. Once upon a time,
actually the last time I was an inpatient about 14 years ago Clozapine was
the only new one. My wife takes it and has taken it for at least 5 years.
Too bad she is possessed by demons so this drug will never work to get her
to stop talking about the demons. But it does hold her mind together not
bad. The demons thing is something else her interpretation of evil street
people who have bad tattoo's who sacred her when young. Even though I am a
guy I agree that some people are incredibly scarry.

Avoid drinking or taking street drugs on clozapine.

Northumberland.
What are the "more new ones"?

I'm the only one left who believes what is happening to me (forced
hypnotism and mind wiping). I've started identifying people who are
doing this and my carers think I might become unmanageable when I
start a confrontation with the hypnotists. I don't think I could win a
fight. But I might end up fighting for my life and integrity.

I like the occasional bottle of wine (taken over a week or so). Is
that a bad idea?
