Health insurance and retired worker with non working spouse (divorce job)
A couple in NJ have been married 30+ years. She was a stay at home mom and
he worked for the state. He has since retired and they live on a pension.
The couple is planning to divorce. How is the insurance coverage of the wife
handled? Is it similar to employee COBRA rules? The wife has no income and
no prospect of any significant income in the future She is nearly 60 and is
in all probability unemployable above minimum wage. She has no job training.
Their only asset is a small house than they plan to sell.
How would a court likely determine the responsibilites of the husband to the
wife in a divorce?
