Default Question for group

Hope everyone is doing fine. Just got back from the Mayo Clinic after
exhausting all the movement disorder pgrograms in Ohio. They diagnosed me
with parasomal dystonia, but they don't believe it has anything to do with
my immune system. They are looking at it from a metabolic side, sighting
high levels of homocysteine in my blood which is not responding to current
treatments. They think the dystonia is a secondary disease caused by the
homocysteine level. Anyone else ever heard of this? As for treatment, they
recommend going with Artane do to my lack of response to Klonapin,
Neurontin, etc. Have become almost completely tolerant to the only benzo
that worked (Ativan), so my other question is has anyone been treated with
Artane and with what results. Also, what are you using for the pain. My
dystonia generally focuses on my right side (foot, ankle cramping and then
posturing) along with my right arm with posturing on the hand. If no
intervention is taken it will involve my neck with the muscles pulling my
head back, forcing me to look up. Then the neck muscles with spasm to the
point of restricting my air way. Ended up on a ventilator twice this year
and just missed a few other times. Ended up in Mayo's Neuro Intensive Care
Unit because they did want to use the only intervention that works. They
got me patched up and got me back home. New letter of treatement
recommendations to follow this week.

Yes, and it didn't do a damn thing except give me very colorful dreams for a
few nights. (I have cervical dystonia and am now being treated with botox,
which gives about 50% relief when it finally starts to work (2 months out of 3;
for 2 weeks or more at the beginning and the end of the cycle I just have to
tough it out.)

Mcdaddy I see they suggested KLONIPIN, it seams they use this for ever
thing. I am myoclonic and have been on klonipin for years. I only take 1
before bed. It makes you very sleepy if you take it during the day, not
suppose to drive using it. I still drive. at 88

hoy peter,

i use winvn. very simple proggie, so antique it's like using a horse
and buggy on california's freeways. it doesn't offer killfile options
or any way to automatically set no-archive. but i love it for a
couple of minor features other newsreaders don't have, such as
being able to sort posts by date, subject, number of lines, strict
threads, subject threads, article number or author. also it all
opens in seperate windows. the one thing about it that i don't
like is that if i don't open a post for a few minutes, it closes down
and i have to reconnect. i use free agent in another newsgroup,
and that one doesn't do that. but sorting messages in free agent
sucks donkey dinguses.

I understand this statement completely! Boy, sometimes...people drive me nuts.

I'm not easy to live with either. I'm married to a man who I thought
understood me, but right now, I am wondering about that.....he's been gone for
over 2 months on "quick trip up north".

I moved to FL three years ago and hate it here except for the fact that I live
in the country where it is QUIET. The medical care here at the VA stinks and
I've had no therapist for a long time...too far to drive and do not understand
women's PTSD issues in this dumb state.

Sounds like things are going better for you Pete, than in my world right now.

Best,
Luanne

Wondering if that was the bad experience that led to discharge. We all know
it wasn't anything to do with combat.
